Where are Washington DC’s Best  Christmas Lights Displays?

It’s that time of the year again

Christmas lights!

My family has this tradition to visit Christmas Lights Displays to get us into the Christmas spirit.

I will share with you the best places to go and hopefully your family can  catch some of these beautiful displays of magic and joy to the Season

The gift to all residents in the Washington DC area is that we share the best of each locations

Washington DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia

Let’s separate them and let’s start with Maryland: 

Where to go? 


Maryland Christmas Lights:

Winter Lights at Seneca Creek State Park
Location: 11950 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland. November 27 through December 31, 2015 (closed December 25). Sunday – Thursday (closed Monday) 6 – 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday 6 – 10 p.m. $12 per car Tues-Thurs, $15 Fri-Sun. Pets are FREE!

I love this place because it is full of Winter Lights and they have over 350 illuminated displays  along a 3.5-mile drive through the park. 




The Washington, DC Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints

Location: 9900 Stoneybrook Dr, Kensington, MD 20895

This is also know to I-495 commuters ”The Castle in Oz”  Or a Disney’s Princess Home. .or my favorite when I’m stuck in traffic ‘Highway to Heaven”

This is a Mormon temple an is open to all during the Christmas season. They have on display over 450,000 sparkling Christmas Lights, but the best part here is the live concerts and all is FREE!!

You can’t miss this with your family. .


Winter Festival Of Lights at Watkins Regional Park

Location: 301 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro

November 27, 2015 through January 1, 2016. HOURS: 5-9:30 p.m. daily. $5 per car; $15 for mini-buses and limos; $25 for buses; $10 for multi-visit passes for cars and vans (good for three visits).

They boast to have over a million twinkling lights…and your gift is: 

They waive the fees on December 25 – Christmas Day – FREE ADMISSION


Washington DC Christmas Lights:

ZooLights at the National Zoo
Location: Rock Creek Park. Washington, DC.

This starts in November 27, 2015 through January 2, 2016. Closed Dec. 24, 25 and 31. Hours: 5-9 p.m. and is FREE Admission!

The National Zoo presents this seasonal display of thousands of sparkling animated lights every Christmas with  live musical performances, indoor animal exhibits, and much more. 

What a great place to spend one Saturday prior to Christmas…


Northern Virginia Christmas Lights:

Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights
Location: Old Town Alexandria Marina and Washington Harbour.

One day only. .December 5, 2015, 5:30 p.m. See dozens of festively decorated pleasure boats light up the sky along the Potomac River.

This parade begins at Alexandria’s waterfront and travels to Washington’s Channel at Water St. off of Maine Avenue and is part of Holiday Festivities in Old Town Alexandria

Bull Run Festival of Lights
Location: 7700 Bull Run Dr., Centreville, Virginia.

November 18, 2015 through January 3, 2016. Hours: Monday – Thursday & Sunday: 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., Fridays, Saturdays & holidays: 5:30 to 10 p.m. This festive display of lights features penguins, snowmen, deer, candy canes and Santa. Monday – Thursday, $15 per car, Friday – Sunday, $20 per car. This event includes more than 40,000 animated lights set to music!

The Other Listing Agent Told Me That They Could List My House For Less

The other listing agent told me that they could list my house for less…why should I pay you more?


The question got me thinking…that was a fair question I received from a consumer facing many choices out there..why should they hire me to list their home at my price when there are hundreds at a lower price?

So I prepared this for her…

Dear Home Seller:

There is a difference when someone who wants to “LIST” a property or someone who wants to ‘SELL” a property.

There is a difference between being a “customer” or being a “client”

There is a difference between being paid up front for your needs and not caring if you were successful or not..

or someone that will invest money, time, leadership and sacrifice to accomplish your goals and only then…..expect to be paid.

I don’t list properties..

I sell them. .

I will protect my client’s price

I will market their home

I will negotiate the best price for them

I will negotiate the best terms for them

My services are not on a vending machine…

My services are sold only after  I perform, surpass and achieve my client’s goals to the best of their expectations.


“My fees are not an expense…they are an investment for you”


I know agents that can put your home on the MLS for only $95

They are the ones that got their license and soon discovered that. . 

they can’t sell a property on talent..

So they did the best next thing..

They reduced their charges on proportion to the value they bring to you...


My advice is..

If you want to “LIST” it..go for the ninety five dollar one….
